submission guidelinesUnsolicited submissions of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction are not being accepted at this time. We will resume accepting all submissions on 1 January, 2008. Visual art, reviews, and other genres are still being accepted; political or cultural pieces (essays, interesting collections of statistics, etc.) are especially encouraged if excellent. In order to get a sense of the quality of the work we accept, please read at least one issue, or read excerpts from at least a few of our different issues. Please, do not submit material unless and until you are familiar with the magazine and the caliber of work accepted. Please type “Submission” and the type of work it is (for example: Submission: Photography) in the Subject line. If it is a simultaneous submission, please include that in the Subject line, as well (i.e., Sub: Poetry_ Simultaneous). We do accept simultaneous submissions, provided that you let us know when you submit, and also inform us immediately if work is first accepted elsewhere. We rarely accept previously published work, but on occasion do, especially if the work has only been published in a print journal with a small circulation, or is exceptional. Cover letters are nice, but not necessary. Please send submissions, with a short bio, to sirenlit@gmail.com Response times vary from a week to, recently, several months, but generally you’ll hear within two – three months, especially after we resume accepting all submissions in January. After three months, please feel free to query about the status of your submission. (Subject line: Query_Submission Status) If you are submitting art, it would be greatly appreciated if you could resize it first to be appropriate for computer monitors. Thank you so much for your interest in Siren! **** ’Interested in writing reviews for Siren? Please contact the editor by e-mail, and include in that e-mail two short samples (excerpts of longer pieces are fine) of any prose you’ve written. ****If you are interested in having us publish a review of a collection of yours, please contact the editor by e-mail (Subject line: Query_Review Materials), and include two or three poems or excerpts of prose from the collection, as well as publication details. |
